William Barton Obituary
Next we note the death of an old and respected pioneer citizen, Wm. Barton. He came to this county in 1814 and settled on the farm where his death occurred. His death was occasioned by strangulated hernia. His sickness was of short duration. Death soon released him from his sufferings. He lived an honest, moral life, and when interrogated in reference to his coming dissolution his trust was in Him who doeth all things well, thus leaving that consolation which helps assuage the grief of mourning friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. O.V. Lemon, at Concord, and from the vast number present we could well understand his influence and public standing.
