Pride

Years ago in Sunday School
     A teacher very wise,
Put forth some words of wisdom
     As she blinked her aged eyes.

"Never leave your mirror
     Until you do your best to see,
You have made yourself presentable
     and as tidy as can be.

Then, put aside your thoughts of self,
     Go unpretentiously on your way."
Although her voice has long been still
     Her words still sound today.
