Seasons of Life by Audrey Cofield

Curved Corner

Scales of Life

To keep in balance the scales of life
That the center beam remains straight,
Takes serious thought and fortitude,
Intertwined with a sprinkle of fate.

Always enough, but not too much-
Is a challenge to all mankind,
Searching the sanctum of inner thought
Each to his own must find.

Who is there born that has not failed
      In the counterpoise of strife-
That he, in the end, can truthfully say,
      "Mine, was the flawless life"?
