Seasons of Life by Audrey Cofield

Curved Corner

The Old Pear Tree

Dejected it stands all knotty and snarled,
The others have long passed away.
But the old pear tree burst again into bloom
To brighten another spring day.

The orchard that stood just back of the house
Each spring was a joy and delight.
The peach trees wore pink like a bridesmaid's attire
And the pears wore heavenly white.

The apples were tinted with a coral blush
And blessed with the honey bee's kiss.
Often I gaze at the now barren lot
And think what the grandchildren miss!
