Seasons of Life by Audrey Cofield

Curved Corner

Her First Day of School

Today she walks the path of school
     A neophyte of lore,
To leave her carefree childhood days
     Behind home's sheltered door.

Down the long laborious road
     She starts with apprehension,
New things hither-to unknown
     Will multiply the tension.

Somehow like falling autumn leaves
     A sadness seems to reign,
Within the silent walls of home
     That likens grief and pain.

Another live evolves today
     In search of erudition,
All things imbibed along the way
     Will mold her future mission.
